Arlene R. Tank, age 101, of Sidney formally of Potter, NE passed away early Friday morning, March 14, 2025, at Pole Creek Estates in Sidney. Funeral Service for Arlene will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Prairie West Church in Potter, NE with Pastor Warren Cico officiating. Burial will follow at the Potter Cemetery in Potter, NE. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday, March 19th from 1-6:00 P.M. to leave condolences for the family. Family will be present from 4-6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Prairie West Church in Potter, NE.

Arlene was born on a farm south of Sunol, NE on June 27, 1923, to Cary and Mae (Sheck) Wilt. She was one of 8 children Dorothy, Fern, Max, Elmo, Ray, and Donald as well as a twin sister, Eilene, who passed at birth.
She attended and graduated from Sunol school. Arlene married Loyal J. Tank in Harrisburg, NE on January 11, 1941. Arlene and Loyal celebrated 60 years of marriage. To this union two children were born, Shirley and Lanny.
Arlene was a dedicated member of the Potter United Methodist Church for 75 years, actively participating in the United Methodist Women’s group and serving on the funeral dinner committee for many years. She was also involved in the Social Neighbors Club, the Anniversary Card Club, and Wheatgrowers Wheathearts.
Loyal and Arlene loved to dance starting their early years together attending many dances and even square dancing on occasion. Whenever family would leave the Tank farm, Arlene and Loyal would send them off while dancing in the driveway of their home.
Known for her warm hospitality, Arlene was a gracious hostess, serving many meals and providing food for family gatherings and friends. She had a special talent for gardening, with cucumbers and zucchini being her specialty, which she generously shared with others.
Arlene leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and dedication to family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving family, including her children, Shirley Combs and Lanny Tank (significant other Carlene Muller), granddaughters Cathy (husband Doug) Halligan and Michelle (husband Devin) Biesecker. Great grandchildren Brennan Halligan (girlfriend Courtney Aldrich), Cailey Biesecker, Aydan Halligan, Delaney Biesecker, and Kennedey Biesecker, sisters-in-law, Eleanor Wilt and Maxine Wilt, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Loyal, parents Cary and Mae, sister Dorothy (husband George) Emanuelson, Fern (husband Harold) White, twin sister Eilene, brothers Max (wife Edna) Elmo, Ray and Donald, son-in-law Al Combs, and great-granddaughter Aliana Jo Combs Halligan.
