Jeffrey “Jeff” Paul Hogg, age 74, passed away on Sunday January 5, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM after a 10-year battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, May 09, 2025, at Gehrig-Stitt Chapel with father C.P. Varghese officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to MD Anderson Cancer Center or Night of Hope in Sidney, NE.

Jeff was born in Seattle WA, son of Pauline (Sandel) and John Hogg on February 7, 1950. After a couple of family moves, they settled in north Phoenix, AZ. Jeff was active in Boy Scouts throughout his school years, including numerous trips to the Boy Scout’s Camp Geronimo and solo trips in the White Mountains. Jeff earned his Eagle Scout in 1966 with Troop 0426 in Phoenix, AZ. Jeff graduated from Paradise Valley High School in 1968 and then went to the University of Arizona. After one year, Jeff decided to take a break and went to work for Karsten Solheim, Ping Golf Equipment. This is when Ping was still working out of the Solheim’s garage. After a couple years, Jeff went back to University of Arizona and in 1974 got his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

Jeff started his 30-year career with the USDA Forest Service with a temporary recreation job on the Amador Ranger District, El Dorado National Forest. After many Forest Service jobs which included Superintendent of the Catalina Hot Shots, Coronado National Forest, Forest Mngt on the Santa Fe National Forest – Las Vegas District and Espanola District, Forest Mngt on the Carson National Forest SO. He retired from his Forest Service career at the Region 3 Regional Office in Albuquerque, NM.

Jeff will be missed by his wife Cynthia “Cyndie” (Hajek) Hogg, his brother Christopher (Kerrie) Hogg, his two sisters Martha (Jim) Jenkins and Patsy (Henry) Schmidt. His sisters-in-law Christie (Bob) Smith and LuAnna (Craig) Hagerman and brother-in-law John (LaVon) Hajek, his nieces and nephews: Sheila Hamm, Brett (Janell) Hamm, Ian Gorrell, Sarah Gorrell, Johnny (Jordan) Hajek, Jessica (Shane) Sick, Justin Hagerman, Jason Hagerman, and Joshua (Brittany) Hagerman. And 9 great nieces and nephews.

A special thanks goes out to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. We will always be indebted to the 10 years they helped Jeff with his cancer battle.
