JoAnn Jones, a longtime resident of Green Valley, AZ passed away at the Kimball County Manor in Kimball, NE, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Cremation has taken place, and Memorial Services will be held in Arizona at a later date and will be announced on Facebook. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in care of Laurie Herboldsheimer, P.O. Box 375 Potter, NE 69156, for later designation.

JoAnn was born on May 23, 1931, to Orville and Grace (Burley) Keifer in Harris, IA, the youngest of three girls. After graduating from Harris High School in 1948, she worked for United Airlines in New York City and Denver. She then joined the State Department and was posted to Tripoli, Libya.

 She was united in marriage to Harlow Jones at the embassy in Tripoli on December 17, 1964. While serving in Vienna, Austria in 1966, son Keith was born. The family settled in Vienna, VA upon returning to the United States, where they welcomed their daughter Laurie in 1967.

JoAnn served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, played bells for the Methodist Church, and spent many hours tending her flower beds. Upon retiring in 1992, she moved to Green Valley, AZ. There she spent many years with special friend Doyle Young of Tucson, AZ, traveling, volunteering for Friends in Need, and tending to her “park” – the arroyo next to her townhouse. She loved gardening, bowling, and playing cards.

She is survived by her son Keith (wife Kathy) Jones of Indian Trail, NC; daughter Laurie (Bryan) Herboldsheimer of Potter, NE; grandchildren JT, Ginny and Sami, and many nieces and nephews.
