STERLING, Colo. - Paisley Alderson, an eighth grader from Sterling, won grand champion in junior swine showmanship at the Logan County Fair & Rodeo last week.

Alderson, who said it was her first time winning the title, credited her success to consistent practice, which included walking each pig every morning and evening for 20 minutes.

“You’ve got to make sure its head is up, the right speed and staying consistent,” Alderson said.

She said she was surprised by the win and nearly started crying after hearing her name announced. Her family, she said, was proud of her effort and commitment leading up to the show.
