IMPERIAL – The Sidney Lady Raiders dropped a tough road match Thursday night, falling to Chase County in four sets, 19-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-19.

Sidney (7-5) started strong, battling through eight ties in the opening set before breaking away on a 10-3 run capped by senior Kierra Schrader’s two kills. The Lady Raiders closed out the set 25-19.

The second set followed a similar script early, tied seven times, the last at 15-15. But Chase County (4-8) surged behind senior Karlie Anderson, who notched four of her eight kills in the set during a 10-2 Longhorns run to even the match with a 25-17 win.

Momentum swung wildly in the third set. Chase County built a 13-7 advantage, only for Sidney to roar back with a 14-3 stretch powered by four kills from senior Lilee Wieser to take a 21-16 lead. Sidney had six chances to close out the set, including a 26-25 edge on a kill by junior Reagan Nesbitt, but Chase County rallied to steal it 28-26.

The comeback deflated the Lady Raiders, who trailed 14-5 early in the fourth set. Sidney tried to claw back but never cut the deficit closer than four points as Chase County secured the match with a 25-19 win.

Wieser paced Sidney with 11 kills on an efficient .611 hitting percentage. Nesbitt added 10 kills, while Schrader finished with eight. As a team, Sidney hit just .158. Anderson led all hitters with 20 kills for Chase County.

The loss drops Sidney to 7-5 on the season. The Lady Raiders return home Thursday to host 13-3 Gering at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. Reserve action begins at 4 p.m., with junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity to follow at approximately 6 p.m.
