Nebraska woman arrested after stealing car, hitting pedestrians, lighting car on fire, police say

LEXINGTON, Neb. (KSNB) - A Lexington woman was arrested Tuesday after committing a spree of crimes including stealing a car, hitting pedestrians, fleeing the scene and then lighting the car on fire, police say.

At approximately 7:35 p.m., Lexington Police responded to a pedestrian/vehicle accident at the intersection of 11th and Washington streets. According to police, a 12-year-old boy and 34-year-old woman were struck by a vehicle while crossing the roadway.

The boy was not injured, and the woman was transported to Lexington Regional Health Center for treatment and was later transferred to another medical facility due to the severity of her injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene, police said.

During the investigation, police received a report of a stolen vehicle, which was later determined to be the same vehicle involved in the accident and had been stolen just minutes before hitting the woman and child.

Several hours later, officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire just outside of city limits. Upon arrival, police detained 38-year-old Alondra Solache.

Solache was arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, driving under suspension, driving under the influence and child abuse.

This investigation is ongoing. The Lexington Police Department was assisted by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
