CHEYENNE, Wyo. - A 64-year-old Cheyenne man faces multiple felony charges after sheriff’s deputies say he injured an officer and rammed a patrol vehicle during a slow-speed pursuit Monday evening.

Calvin Alexander was booked into the Laramie County Jail on charges of attempted aggravated vehicular homicide, interference, felony property destruction, DUI, and aggravated fleeing and eluding, according to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 6:40 p.m. Dec. 1 to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 10,000 block of East Four Mile Road. They located a black Kia Soul in the area of East Four Mile and Buckboard Road and attempted a traffic stop with lights and sirens activated.

Alexander refused to stop, deputies said, continuing to drive at a slow speed while making repeated U-turns in the roadway. When deputies exited their vehicles to approach, Alexander accelerated and swerved into one of them, pinning the deputy against his patrol vehicle and causing injury.

As more deputies arrived, Alexander continued circling the area. Stop sticks were deployed, flattening the Kia’s tires, but he then rammed a parked patrol vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Brian Kozak used his patrol truck to pin the Kia in place as Alexander attempted to drive away again.

Officers broke the vehicle’s windows, and a Cheyenne Police Department officer deployed pepper balls into the car. Alexander refused to exit and continued resisting until he was Tased and taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The agency thanked its law enforcement partners for assisting in the arrest.
