GERING, Neb. - Gering Public Schools announced Tuesday that longtime Activities Director Shawn Seiler will step down in July 2026 after 17 years with the district. He has accepted a new position as Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Seiler joined Gering Public Schools in 2009 and has served in several leadership roles, including assistant principal at Gering High School, principal at Gering Junior High and, most recently, activities director. District officials said Seiler has played a key role in curriculum work, building leadership, district initiatives and activities programs.

In a statement, Seiler called the decision bittersweet.

“It is with gratitude and bittersweet emotion that I step away from Gering Public Schools,” Seiler said. “Seventeen years ago, this district took a chance on me and opened doors to leadership opportunities I could never have imagined. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the experiences that have shaped me both professionally and personally.”

Seiler thanked staff, students, district leadership and the Board of Education, adding, “Gering will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to cheer on the Bulldogs.”

Superintendent Nicole Regan praised Seiler’s impact on the district.

“Shawn Seiler has been a remarkable leader for Gering Public Schools,” Regan said. “His dedication and care for our students, coaches, and staff have strengthened programs and fostered a culture of excellence that will benefit our district for years to come.”

The district will begin a search later this month for a new activities director, aiming to select a candidate who will continue building on the district’s established foundation.
