OSHKOSH, Neb. - Authorities are asking for the public’s help after multiple Story Walk displays at Oshkosh City Park were damaged by gunfire earlier this month.

According to the City of Oshkosh, the incident occurred around 7:04 p.m. on Dec. 6, when a flatbed diesel pickup truck drove through the area and shots were fired from the vehicle. Four Story Walk plaques associated with the Oshkosh Public Library were struck and damaged.

City officials say audio from a video of the incident clearly captures the sound of gunfire as the vehicle passes through the park. The vandalism caused damage to the public displays, which are designed to promote reading and family engagement through outdoor storytelling.

The Garden County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to the vandalism or the vehicle involved is encouraged to contact the Garden County Sheriff’s Office or Oshkosh City Hall.
