Colorado Bureau of Investigation assists La Junta Police Department with homicide investigation
18-year-old male arrested in death of 17-year-old

LA JUNTA, Colo. -- The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) provided assistance to the La Junta Police Department (LJPD), the lead agency, in a homicide investigation that resulted in the arrest of an 18-year old suspect on Saturday.
Anthony Barron Sandoval Jr. 18, has been arrested for the charge of Murder in the 2nd Degree (F2) in violation of 18-3-103(1)(a) C.R.S. He’s currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
The incident occurred at about 1:51 a.m. Saturday when LJPD officers responded to a report of a male who had been fatally shot at a home in the 1400 block of Belleview Ave in La Junta. The victim is a 17-year old male whose identity will be released by the Otero County Coroner’s Office.
The La Junta Police Department, with assistance from CBI agents, conducted interviews with witnesses at the residence before arresting the suspect.
