POTTER, NE - It was a day where anybody behind you could literally eat your dust. But the hot and dry conditions in Potter on Sunday didn’t stop the return of the off road racing to the area.

"It's been going great and whether it's hot, dry and dusty or rainy and muddy, we're just happy to be out here," race organizer BJ Juelfs said. "Everybody is having a great time."

Everyone from 5-year-olds competing in their first races to seasoned vets took part in ATV, UTV and motorbike races. The event attracted riders from multiple states across the plains.

"It honestly just puts a smile on your face that people want to travel to Potter, Nebraska and come and enjoy the day with us," Juelfs said.

Juelfs said some of the drivers drove eight or nine hours to compete at the Labor Day Weekend event.

Racers took on the seven-mile course that none of them got a glimpse of until race day as that’s the rules of a hare scramble race.

Some tore up the track and others didn’t get to see the whole thing outside of the parade lap.

Either way, organizers believe the event was a big success.

"Really it's a great time if you don't mind a little dust," Juelfs said. "I don't even think you'll notice it once you're out here."

And they plan to bring it back in the years to come.

"It's great and it's really promising for the years to come," Juelfs said. "We want to grow this event into a premium, must-attend off road race event for everybody to come out and enjoy."
