Nebraskans woke up to frigid temperatures on Tuesday morning, including some record-breakers, but the state avoided additional snowfall.

The entire state is driving to work in sub-freezing temperatures, with much of the western half braving single digits. Scottsbluff is at minus-9, breaking the previous record of 11 degrees set on Oct. 27, 1925. Alliance and Chadron hit matching record lows, while Valentine (4) and North Platte (6) were also among the cities achieving new record lows for the day.

Temperatures are expected to steadily rise over the next week, hitting the 60s in some parts of Nebraska by Halloween.
