SIDNEY, NE — Sidney will soon have to find a new director for its Economic Development Department.

Economic Development director Melissa Norgard has announced she is resigning from the position. In a statement, she says she is making the move to concentrate and work full-time at Sam and Louie's in Sidney, which her and her husband Stan Norgard own.

Melissa has served as Economic Development director for the last four years. She will continue to serve in the role full-time until the end of April, then transition to part-time in May.

"I appreciate the opportunities I have had at the City of Sidney and was fortunate to work with great businesses and entrepreneurs in the last four years. I know Sidney will continue on an upward path and continue to see successes in the months and years to come," Melissa said.

The Norgards recently released a line of brews made in-house at Sam and Louie's under the name Boss City Brewing to expand the business. The restaurant has been closed this week for renovations, which includes installing a bar to complement the new offerings.
