SIDNEY, NE — There’s a new business opening its doors in Sidney.

"It's much more about that experience of having a good time with your friends and realizing you can go out in Sidney and find something fun and new," Chill Axe Sidney Co-owner Aaron Beyer said.

Chill Axe Sidney is the culmination of Beyer and Krista Pittam’s desire to bring another entertainment option to Sidney. It began when they visited an axe throwing range in Colorado. Soon they found themselves throwing axes all over the region.

"At the point we went to one in Lincoln, we were basically aware that we were scouting, that this was something we wanted to bring to Sidney," Beyer said.

The business may be unique for a small town, but Pittam and Beyer think their idea is a bullseye.

"It's an entertainment space, but it's also just that sense of community building and putting Sidney back on the map," Pittam said. "You know, we have cool things to do, we have great restaurants so just building up that sense of community."

Beyer and Pittam say there is not another axe range within 200 miles of Sidney. They believe they can attract people from all over to town and have already had people from Sterling, Colorado come by.

The name meanwhile captures the vibe the two are aiming for. With three throwing lanes and some beverages to boot, they say it’s a great place to relax and have a good time with friends.

"We try to keep it relaxed and easy going," Beyer said. "There's no 'Oh, this is high pressure.' or 'This is high stakes.' You're just here to have a good time and bond with the people next to you."

Chill Axe Sidney held a soft opening earlier this month and are now open business. They plan on having a grand opening in the future.

Chill Axe is located at 1700 Illinois St directly across from the Sidney Police station. Currently the business is open Thursdays-Sundays.
