SIDNEY - Nicki Rushman, of Dalton, wrapped up her Christmas shopping Saturday by taking a lap around Sidney in a limo from Prestige Limo and spending $1,000 from 987 The Big Boy and Cheyenne County Country.
Joined by her husband, Rob, the Rushman's began the day with breakfast and coffee at Brand New Items & Coffee Shop. Then it was off to Sonny's Super Foods, DP Electronics, Nexgen Outfitters and Sutton Home Gallery for Christmas gifts for their children and grandchildren. The day concluded with lunch at Sam & Louie's and Boss City Brewing.
Rushman registered for the $1,000 Shopping Spree at DP Electronics. She was one of 14 finalists, out of thousands of registrations, drawn on Wednesday.
"I'm just stunned," Rushman said. "I seriously thought you were calling me to tell me, 'hey, you need to listen, cause we're going to draw.' I had the radio on. I was listening."
Fortunately, two of her coworkers were able to cover her shift at the Chappell Post Office while she went on the shopping spree.
"I have a dilemma," Rushman said. "I got to call my boss. I'm supposed to work Saturday morning at the Post Office in Chappell."
Registrations for the giveaway began in mid-November at 14 different businesses across Sidney.
