Sidney Teams Advance in Holiday Tournament
SIDNEY - The Sidney Lady Raiders and Red Raiders earned wins over the Burns on Monday to advance to the semifinals of the Sidney Holiday Tournament at Sidney High School. The Lady Raiders overpowered the Lady Broncs 66-28, while the Red Raiders pulled away for a 67-49 first round win.
The Lady Raiders forced Burns into 11 first quarter turnovers, on the way to a 22-2 lead after the first period. Sidney added 19 more points in the second quarter, while holding the Broncs to just 6, and effectively putting the game away at the half, leading 41-8.
Sidney had three players in double figures, led by seniors Alecca Campbell and Emilee Wieser with 12 points. Junior Reece Riddle added 10 points to the Lady Raiders seventh win in eight outings.

The Sidney Red Raiders had ten players score, four reaching double figures, as they steadily pulled away from the Burns Broncs to improve to 7-1 on the season. Sidney, who knocked down 12 three-pointers at Holdrege going into the holiday break, struggled from outside the arc after the time off. Sidney hit just 4 of 17 from long range, but made up for it with 44 points in the paint.
Sophomore Isak Doty led Sidney with 15 points while Sawyer Dickman, Wyatt Heckenlively, and Micah Schneider each tallied 10 points. Dickman led the Raiders on the night with 12 rebounds.

Both Sidney teams will play Ord in semifinal action at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility on Tuesday. The Ord girls beat Mitchell 44-29 to advance while the Ord boys edged Mitchell 51-40. The Lady Raiders game will tip at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Red Raiders at 7:15 p.m.
