Grand Island Central Catholic defeats Chase County to punch their ticket to State
North Platte High School hosts the C1-4 District Finals for the Chase County Longhorns and the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - North Platte High School hosts the C1-4 District Finals for the Chase County Longhorns and the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders. To advance to the C1-4 District Finals the Chase County Longhorns won the C1-12 Sub District and the Crusaders won the C1-9 Sub District.
In the first period the Crusaders got out to a big 17-10 lead over the Longhorns. Leading the efforts for the Crusaders was Senior Jenna Heidelk with five followed by Junior Lucy Ghaifan and Freshman Bryndal Moody each each with four. And leading the way for Chase County in the first period was Senior Morgan Peterson with six.
In the second period the Crusaders continue to add to their lead to make it 29-16 when the teams went into the locker room at the half. Grand Island Central Catholic’s Ghaifan had a big period leading the Crusaders with seven points. For the Longhorns it was Junior Bryn McNair and Peterson who each had three points.
After the half the Crusaders continued to add to their lead with nine in the third period and ten in the fourth.
In the end the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders defeat the Chase County Longhorns 48-35 to punch their ticket to the State Tournament. The leading scorer of the game was Grand Island Central Catholic’s Lucy Ghaifan with 19 points.
