Vehicle accident reduces Interstate 80 to one lane near Sidney
Emergency response officials responded to an accident involving an SUV and a semi-tractor-trailer near the rest area east of Sidney shortly after 4 p.m.
SIDNEY - Nebraska Department of Transportation officials reduced both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 to one lane near Sidney Wednesday afternoon due to a two-vehicle accident.
Emergency response officials responded to an accident involving an SUV and a semi-tractor-trailer near the rest area east of Sidney shortly after 4 p.m.
Several emergency vehicles, including the Cheyenne County Sheriff's office, Nebraska State Patrol, Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Regional West Ambulance, were seen surrounding a a heavily damaged semi-tractor-trailer facing west in the median. The SUV, which also suffered major damage, was located east of the semi-tractor-trailer in the median.
NDOT reported the interstate was partially covered in ice and told drivers to "expect blowing snow" at the time of the accident.
No other details were immediately available.
