Vehicle accident reduces Interstate 80 to one lane near Sidney
Emergency response officials responded to an accident involving an SUV and a semi-tractor-trailer near the rest area east of Sidney shortly after 4 p.m.
By News Channel NebraskaSIDNEY - Nebraska Department of Transportation officials reduced both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 to one lane near Sidney Wednesday afternoon due to a two-vehicle accident.
Emergency response officials responded to an accident involving an SUV and a semi-tractor-trailer near the rest area east of Sidney shortly after 4 p.m.
Several emergency vehicles, including the Cheyenne County Sheriff's office, Nebraska State Patrol, Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Regional West Ambulance, were seen surrounding a a heavily damaged semi-tractor-trailer facing west in the median. The SUV, which also suffered major damage, was located east of the semi-tractor-trailer in the median.
NDOT reported the interstate was partially covered in ice and told drivers to "expect blowing snow" at the time of the accident.
