Senior pitcher Courtney Wallace was announced as a Rawlings/NFCA Gold Glove Award recipient by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.

The 2022 season marks the first time that Rawlings Sporting Goods Company is presenting the Gold Glove Award to NCAA Division I softball athletes. Nine student-athletes from across the country - one at each defensive position - were presented the award by the NFCA, with Wallace earning the nod as the top defensive pitcher in the nation.

The Rawlings/NFCA Gold Glove Award highlights an impressive senior season for Wallace. Wallace was also a third-team All-Midwest Region honoree and a Big Ten All-Defensive team selection. She was also named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team after posting two wins in Nebraska's three-game path to its first Big Ten Tournament title, including a relief victory over Michigan in the championship game.

Wallace, the first Division I softball pitcher to receive the Gold Glove Award, was perfect defensively in her 34 games and 26 starts in the circle. Wallace finished the season with a 17-8 record, four saves and a 3.12 ERA, while batting .284.

Ybarra Earns All-America Honors

Senior Cam Ybarra was honored as an All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Wednesday. A native of Mission Viejo, Calif., Ybarra was named an NFCA third-team All-American.

Ybarra is the first Husker to be an All-American since Nebraska had two All-Americans in 2016. Ybarra is only the fourth second baseman to earn All-America honors in program history and the first since 2005.

The All-America award capped a decorated senior season for Ybarra. In addition to being recognized as an All-American, Ybarra was a first-team All-Midwest Region honoree and a first-team All-Big Ten selection while earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive team. She was also the Most Outstanding Player of the 2022 Big Ten Tournament after she drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning of Nebraska's championship game victory over Michigan, giving the Huskers their first Big Ten Tournament title.

Ybarra hit .365 this spring with 14 doubles, 10 homers and 39 RBIs. She led Nebraska in hits (65), doubles (14) and triples (3), while ranking second on the team with a .646 slugging percentage. Her 14 doubles were the second-most by a senior in program history. She finished with 27 extra-base hits in only 51 games and defensively, Ybarra posted a .972 fielding percentage and had a hand in 19 double plays.

Ybarra, who finished her career with the 14th-best career batting average (.333) in school history, is the 17th Husker to be named an NFCA All-American. Nebraska's 17 All-Americans have combined for 28 All-America awards in program history.
