Abe Lincoln Opens “Heritage on the Plains” at Pioneer Park
The Overland Trail Museum, in Sterling, Colorado, will help you celebrate and commemorate our great country! Sunday July 3rd the Heritage on the Plains celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. in Pioneer Park, with “Abe Lincoln” reciting the Gettysburg address.

STERLING COLO - The Overland Trail Museum, in Sterling, Colorado, will help you celebrate and commemorate our great country! On Sunday July 3rd, the Heritage on the Plains celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. in Pioneer Park, with “Abe Lincoln” reciting the famous Gettysburg address that commemorated the Battle of Gettysburg, which took place exactly 159 years ago, on July 3, 1863.
The museum will keep the 1860s historic theme going when the Colorado Vintage Baseball team takes on Sterling’s own “High Plains Hitters” in a vintage baseball game at noon on the south field at Pioneer Park.
Other entertainment includes Boots in Motion at 11:30 a.m. and the Atomic Drifters playing from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
All activities are free and include train rides, leather crafting, carnival games, blacksmith demonstrations, the Flatlanders Car Club and homemade root beer.
