BAYARD, Neb. -- Sophomore students at Bayard Public Schools were trained on how to be ready in case of an emergency on Thursday.

The program is called C.E.R.T. and in case of a tornado, fire, or other disaster, students will have a better understanding of what to do in the heat of the moment.

The purpose of the program is to make students aware of what they need to do in case of a real emergency.

Students drew a picture of their house and planned an evacuation route in case something happened at home.

Students will receive a certificate at the end of the year and we will partake in a simulation in April.
