Lady Raiders Win Western Conference

SCOTTSBLUFF – The Sidney Lady Raider volleyball team defeated Scottsbluff 18-25, 25-15, 25-18 in the championship game to win the Western Conference Tournament Saturday at Scottsbluff High School.
Sidney, who entered the tournament as the top seed, began with pool play at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning in Pool A along with fourth seeded Chadron and fifth seeded Gering. Sidney defeated Gering in the first game of the day 25-20, 21-25, 26-24. Gering rebounded to beat Chadron in game two 27-25, 25-19 before Sidney knocked off Chadron in the third pool game 25-14, 25-17.
Sidney faced second-seeded Scottsbluff in the championship game after the Bearcats won pool B in straight sets over Mitchell 25-11, 25-19 and then Alliance 25-18, 25-10. Scottsbluff kept their momentum from pool play rolling, winning the first set 25-18. However, the Lady Raiders found their stride after that to take the next two sets 25-15, 25-18.
With the win, Sidney Improves to 22-5 on the season and will travel to Chadron on Tuesday to battle the 10-15 Cardinals.
