Lawrence, Kan. - Shannon Stott cruised to titles in the 200 butterfly (2:03.65) and the 500 freestyle (5:00.33), but it wasn't enough to overcome Kansas, as Nebraska swimming and diving fell on Saturday, 157-143.

The 500 freestyle race was a highlight for the Huskers, as Gena Jorgenson finished less than a second behind Stott to take second place with a 5:00.74. Molly Rosenthal completed the top-three sweep for NU, finishing third with a 5:04.68. Jorgenson and Rosenthal teamed up to lead the distance corps and take the top two spots in the 1,000 freestyle earlier in the meet. Nebraska dominated in the 400 IM as well, with Sarah Barton winning the event in 4:29.48. Jorgenson, a freshman from Aberdeen, S.D., continued her impact with a runner-up effort in 4:29.48, while Berkeley Livingston added a third-place finish with a 4:30.06.

That was Haimes' second-straight victory in the event, as she took the top spot at the Iowa dual on Oct. 21.

Lexi Kucera notched a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 (52.20) and 200 freestyle (1:52.97). Kansas' Ellie Wehrmann edged Kucera out in both events, clocking a 52.06 in the 100 freestyle and a 1:52.06 in the 200 freestyle.

Hietaranta received a bye to begin the tournament, advancing to the Round of 32. The Lappeenranta, Finland native bested Indiana's Luc Boulier in dominant fashion on Friday, 6-1, 6-0, earning a spot in the next round. In the Round of 16, Hietaranta knocked off Wisconsin's Jared Pratt in a thrilling three-set victory, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 7-5. The sophomore also bested Northwestern's Natan Spear, 6-4, 6-2 to grab a spot in the semifinals. He has now won seven matches on the fall campaign and has been victorious in six of his last eight.

Lars Johann and Rudi Christiansen fought hard in three-set affairs, but fell in the Round of 64. Both won the first set in their respective matches before dropping the final two. However, Johann bounced back on Saturday with a pair of victories in consolation play, winning all four sets in those matches. The Saarbruecken, Germany native continued his hot streak with a win over Indiana's Andrew Meier, 6-3, 6-0. He finished the tournament with a career-high three singles wins.

Shunya Maruyama knocked off Indiana's Luke Vukovic, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, to begin his tournament run off a bye. The Nagano, Japan native fell in the Round of 16 in straight sets, ending his tournament run.
