Lincoln County authorities investigating dead and sick livestock

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Authorities in Lincoln County are investigating more than 150 dead cattle and sick livestock.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said they have been investigating the abuse of livestock in several different areas of rural Lincoln County.
The Sheriff's Office said that during the investigation, they gathered information that numerous cattle, horses and other livestock were not being care for or taken care of.
Deputies with Lincoln County said, with the help of the Nebraska Brand Inspectors Office and Nebraska State Patrol Aircraft, completed an investigative search warrant to inspect the livestock on at least five sections of property under the control and operated by Larry and Matthew Mikoloyck of rural Lincoln County.
Deputies and Brand Inspectors found over 150 dead cattle on the property on March 1.
The Sheriff's Office said that they also saw numerous sick and dying cattle including bulls, cows and calves.
Authorities said that deputies reportedly saw very little substantial food sources for the animals and no water to sustain most of the herd.
On March 1, the Sheriff's Office said they arrested 75-year-old Larry Mikoloyck and his 41-year-old Matthew Mikoloyck.
Both men were arrested for 150 counts of animal cruelty/neglect resulting in death, and were incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center.
On March 2, the Sheriff's Office said that Deputies, with the help of Nebraska Brand Inspectors, served a warrant to seize all the cattle on properties under the control of the Mikoloycks.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said they were assisted by the Logan County Sheriff's Office, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Posse.
Authorities said deputies seized and transported over 1,000 bulls, cows and calves to the North Platte Sale Barn for inspection by a licensed veterinarian.
The Sheriff's Office said that numerous cattle had to be put down on scene as they were very sick, injured and dying.
Officials said the investigation continues Friday and additional charges for both Mikoloycks will be coming.
