City Council presented hospital update

SIDNEY -- Sidney Regional Medical Center is holding onto a vision of a new, more unified campus.
CEO Jason Petik met with the Sidney City Council Tuesday to provide an update on projects with the hospital.
Petik said the hospital was awarded $20 million through the USDA for construction of a new long-term care facility. The facility is planned to be located adjacent to the west side of the hospital.
"We're waiting on the contractors to get back with the architect to tie up the dollar amount make sure everything is within budget at this point in time," he said.
He said the hospital hopes to break ground on the new long-term care facility in late April with a 14-month build period.
"That project is going to happen really fast," Petik said.
Assets of the new long-term care facility is having emergency care on the same campus, direct connection with the hospital -- removing the need for an ambulance transfer -- and the addition of a memory care wing.
Petik said the access from the hospital to Long-Term Care will not be a public access. The hallway from the Long-Term Care facility will route behind the kitchen, he said. The Long-Term Care unit will be a 61-bed facility with an 18-bed memory unit.
“It has always been our plan to move the long-term care facility,” he said.
Petik also talked about some of the anticipated developments at the hospital. The hospital is currently experiencing a need to expand, with administration looking to add a new surgery suite for robotic surgery. Other projects mentioned include increasing space for infusions, the specialty clinic, rehabilitation services, and radiology.
