SIDNEY -- Sidney residents have until April 26 to decide who will be their natural gas supplier.

Mike Palmer, Sidney's Electric Superintendent, said today since 1998 about two-thirds of Nebraskans have been able to choose who produces their natural gas. Locally, the natural gas is delivered by Black Hills Energy. However, the customer can decide who produces it. The choice of producer can affect the customer's monthly bill.

Each eligible customer will receive a mailer with the list of gas suppliers and how to contact each company. Customers will have the option of fixed rate per therm pricing and one or two-year price agreements.

Palmer said the gas selection program is under the oversight of the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
