Southwest Nebraska experiences heavy rain, flash flooding

Flash flooding not only created difficult driving conditions in southwest Nebraska on Friday. It also left a family stranded while camping.

PALISADE, Neb. -- Flash flooding not only created difficult driving conditions in southwest Nebraska on Friday. It also left a family stranded while camping.

Fire and Rescue units were called to an area in Palisade in Hitchcock County to rescue a family that had been stranded outdoors.

The National Weather Service continues to advise safety while traveling, as several southwest Nebraska communities have been struck by heavy rains and flash flooding.

The conditions have caused several road closures throughout the day.
