Scattered thunderstorms again possible in western Nebraska, northeast Colorado
SIDNEY - Some of the scattered thunderstorms projected for Monday afternoon in western Nebraska and northeast Colorado may be severe, capable of producing large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne.
A severe thunderstorm watch included Kimball, Cheyenne, Garden, and Deuel Counties in Nebraska, and Logan and Sedgwick Counties in northeast Colorado. It was in effect until 9 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning was already issued until 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon for southwestern Kimball and southeast Laramie Counties. A severe thunderstorm was located over Panorama Point - 27 miles southwest of Kimball - at 2:10 p.m. It was moving southeast at 20 mph. 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail were the main threats.
Another severe thunderstorm warning for north central Kimball and central Banner Counties lasted until 3:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles east of Albin, or 18 miles northwest of Kimball, at 2:28 p.m., moving northeast at 25 mph. The main hazards were 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms continue through the work week. Storms again could contain hail and gusty winds. Storm coverage will increase through the week with widespread storms with heavy rain expected by the end of the week.
