ALLIANCE - A student accused of bringing a gun to an Alliance school was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.

The Alliance Police Department says Alliance High School was placed into lockdown at approximately 1:30 p.m. when an administrator at the school was notified that a student had a firearm in their backpack.

The juvenile student, whose name was not released by authorities, was detained without incident and the gun was located.

As the school was in the process of being released following the lockdown, a second suspect with a potential gun was identified and the school was placed in a second lockdown. However, no gun was found and school resumed as normal.

The Box Butte County Sheriff's office also responded to the scene.
