Commissioners approve promotions grant

SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Commissioners approved a Promotions Grant to support an entrepreneurial conference in Sidney on Tuesday.
The Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities is an opportunity to educate community members on the various tools and resources available to assist them in helping entrepreneurs grow and prosper in their communities.
The conference planned for Sidney will be May 1-2.
The Visitors Committee grant is to promote the event. Cheyenne County Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell said this is the first time Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities will be in Sidney.
The program is designed for local, regional and national presenters to show how they found success.The 2023 CEC was held in Valentine. The 2023 CEC meetings were hosted by local businesses including lunches and opportunities to tour businesses and community attractions.
Commissioners table CPR/AED grant decision
Commissioner Phil Sanders announced in today's Cheyenne County Commissioners meeting that the safety committee received a $500 grant for First Aid and AED training. The grant was awarded by NIRMA, Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management. Sanders said he appreciates the grant, but it isn't enough to cover the cost of the training. Additionally, who is doing the training is unknown.
The commissioners tabled the grant until the safety committee meets.
Chamber President presents quarterly report
Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Toshia Jones presented her quarterly report this morning. She presented each commissioner with a sample newcomer packet and talked about designing a graduate packet. The graduate packet would offer directions for new high school graduates. She also announced upcoming ribbon cutting events and social events.
"All of those events are open to the public. You do not have to be a member to attend," Jones said.
