NDOT reports 14 people killed due to traffic crashes in February

The Nebraska Department of Transportation reported that 14 people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways during the month of February 2024.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Nebraska Department of Transportation reported that 14 people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways during the month of February 2024.

According to NDOT data, these 14 fatalities occurred in 13 crashes. Six of the 12 vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, three were using a seatbelt and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.

NDOT said that 10 of the fatalities were in rural locations. There were two fatalities on the interstate, nine on other highways, and three on local roads.

One of the fatalities was a pedestrian and one of the fatalities was a motorcyclist.

Icy roads were a contributing factor in one of the crashes.
