Eagles compete at Colorado State Invite
The Chadron State College track and field field team competed against multiple division one opponents on Friday and Saturday while participating in the Jack Christiansen Invite in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The Chadron State College track and field field team competed against multiple division one opponents on Friday and Saturday while participating in the Jack Christiansen Invite in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Opponents included Division I schools Wyoming, Northern Colorado and host Colorado State. Chadron State, Blacks Hills State and three athletes from Colorado School of Mines joined a group of unattached athletes in the field.
The only event on Friday was the hammer throw, in which a familiar name won the men's competition. Daniel Reynolds, a two time All-American at Chadron State and now a member of the Wyoming track team, was victorious with a toss of 66.21 meters or 217-03.
Chayton Bynes had the top individual finish for Chadron State with a second place finish in the triple jump. Bynes jumped 14.31 meters or 46-11.5.
For the second consecutive week, four men's athletes finished the 100 meters in under 11 seconds and three of them dipped below 22 seconds in the 200.
Quincy Efeturi set the pace for the Eagles in the 100 in 10.82 seconds, while Cole Perkins ran it in 10.87. Esosa Iyengunmwena was next in 10.88 seconds and Ryan Clapper finished the race in 10.89 seconds.
Clapper led the Eagles in the 200 in 21.39 seconds while Efeturi was close behind in 21.69. They placed fourth and fifth and Cole Perkins was one spot behind at 21.89 seconds.
Also for the second consecutive week, Perkins, Iyengunmwena, Clapper and Efeturi joined forces to excel in the 4x100. The group placed second after crossing the finish line in 40.86 seconds.
Shantae Morgan and Caydince Groth both placed fourth in their respective events. Morgan crossed the finish line in 26.17 seconds in the women's 200 while Groth finished the women's 400 in 60.13 seconds.
In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Jacob Jefferson placed third in 56.91 seconds.
Lastly on the track, the 4x400 teams both found success. The women's team, consisting of Groth, Morgan, Allison Beard and Micaiah Fuller, placed second with a time of 4:16.62. The men's team, consisting of Jefferson, Greg Logsdon, Malachi Swallow and Logan Peila, received gold after crossing the finish line in 3:23.71.
Other Eagles that placed in the top eight include Emory Yoosook, Caleb Christensen, Christopher Jennings, Sam Tejral and Alec Penfield for the men and Ashlyn Tapio and Madison Clause for the women.
Tapio placed eighth in the discus and Claude placed eighth in the pole vault.
Christensen placed sixth in the men's shot put while Jennings was two spots behind in eighth. Penfield was also sixth but in the high jump and Tejral finished seventh in the triple jump.
Yoosook placed in two seperate events. In the long jump, he placed sixth with a leap of 6.53 meters or 21-05.25. In the men's javelin throw, Yoosook was fifth with a toss of 46.62 meters or 152-11.
This coming week, the Eagles plan to compete at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado or Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
