It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Renetta Christine “Bermel” Chavez, age 53, left this side of existence on Sunday, September 8th, 2024 surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday October 3rd, 2024 from 3:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M at Lazy S Ranch 2472 Road 131, Sidney, NE 69162. Cremation has taken place.      Renetta was born in North Platte, Nebraska but spent most of her childhood in Colorado. While in Colorado, Renetta met Clinton Chavez whom she married in October of 2001. Renetta and Clint spent a lot of their time together camping in the mountains and local lakes, fishing, and hanging out with their friends before having their two children.

     Renetta was known for her witty sense of humor, cheerfulness, and loving personality. Her welcoming personality always made family and friends feel right at home. Renetta, who was also nicknamed “Netta”, enjoyed playing card games with family and friends. She developed her love of playing games through her grandma Irene. Renetta spent many summers with her grandmother who she deeply cherished. She also enjoyed making memories at Lake McConaughy with her family, raising her children, and spending time with her dog Tucker J.

    For many years, Renetta enjoyed working as a special needs para when her family first moved to Sidney, NE. Later on, she worked as a medication aide at the local nursing home and assisted living. Renetta had a deep passion for caring for others and was dedicated to being an advocate for her residents.

She is survived by her husband Clint Chavez, daughter Kaleigh Chavez, son Brody Chavez, father Dana Bermel, sister Regina Goeller, mother-in-laws Luanne Chavez and Elizabeth Terhune, father-in-laws Raul Chavez and Jim Terhune, mother Catherine Lane Harmon, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving grandmother Irene Bermel, her “Poppy” Jim Lane, and special friend Dee.
