Light winds, temps in the 30s lead to frost advisory
SIDNEY - A Frost Advisory is in effect for much of western and central Nebraska Thursday night, as temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, covers areas from Alliance to Sidney, Ogallala, and as far east as Broken Bow and Grand Island.
The combination of light winds, dry air and high pressure will create ideal conditions for frost formation, particularly in rural and outlying areas. While towns and villages may experience a lesser chance of frost due to the heat island effect—where built-up areas retain heat longer—the risk remains high for agricultural and low-lying regions. Residents in these frost-prone zones are encouraged to take precautions to protect sensitive plants and outdoor items.
The frost advisory is in effect from late Thursday night into Friday morning.
