Shott sentenced in May 2024 violent assault
ALLIANCE – The Alliance Police Department announces the conviction and sentencing of Gary Shott of Alliance, on charges related to a violent assault in May 2024.
During the incident, Shott attacked a victim with a katana sword, causing serious bodily injury.
Following the assault, the Alliance Police Department launched an extensive investigation, dedicating countless hours to ensure justice was served. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the residence where the assault occurred.
Officers recovered a significant amount of DNA evidence, which was sent to the Nebraska State Crime Lab for analysis. The evidence led to the arrest of Shott, who faced multiple felony charges related to the assault. Shott was convicted and sentenced to 6 to 8 years in prison.
Alliance Police Chief David Leavitt commended the efforts of the officers who played a vital role in this case.
