FORT MORGAN, Colo. — An Akron man is in custody after a months-long investigation by the Fort Morgan Police Department led to his arrest on drug charges this week.

Mario Diaz, 34, was arrested Thursday, March 28, at a track meet at Akron High School after being located by a Fort Morgan detective. Authorities say Diaz sold cocaine to undercover operatives on two separate occasions earlier this year.

Investigators spent several months conducting surveillance and other law enforcement tactics before obtaining warrants earlier this week.

The arrest was made with the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Additional agencies involved in the investigation include the Brush Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Diaz is currently being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center, pending a court advisement.
