KIMBALL -- The Kimball Police Department’s Chief of Police has been asked to give the commencement speech at the upcoming Police Academy graduation in Grand Island.

Previous speakers have included major leaders from across the state.

“It’s a huge honor to be looked at as a leader and to be entrusted to speak with the future of law enforcement,” said Chief of Police Jose Ruiz. “It shows that our department is moving in the right direction – the state has noticed, and the academy has noticed.”

Ruiz gives immense credit to his officers for the department’s success.

“We wouldn’t be where we are without putting the right people in the right positions,” Ruiz said. “Don’t get me wrong, we still have a long way to go to be where I want us to be, but getting those pillars put into place early is very important for the foundation.”
