NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A teenager from North Platte was killed Friday evening in a crash on Highway 83, a few miles north of the city.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the crash happened just before 7 p.m. when two people were trying to push a stalled Ford pickup out of the northbound lane. As they were moving the truck, a Jeep Wagoneer hit it from behind. The impact pushed the pickup off the road and caused the Jeep to roll into a ditch.

One of the people pushing the truck, 18-year-old Brayden Hulquist of North Platte, died at the scene. The other person helping with the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated there.

The driver of the Jeep, 49-year-old Kendi McClain, also from North Platte, was taken to Great Plains Health with minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
