SIDNEY — The Living Memorial Gardens has unveiled a new moon gate created and donated by Sidney High School welding instructor Randy Woodis and his Beginning and Advanced Welding students.

According to the Gardens, the moon gate had been a “BIG WISH feature” for photo opportunities for weddings, senior pictures, family gatherings and other events. Students designed, constructed and installed the structure after the Gardens shared the idea with Woodis.

“We are WOW’ed and thrilled with this new addition to the gardens,” the Living Memorial Gardens wrote in its announcement. “Our heartfelt appreciation to Randy Woodis and his students for donating their time, expertise and the materials for this project.”

In a letter to the school, Living Memorial Gardens Vice President Dawn Buchart thanked Woodis and the students for surprising the organization with the project and said the moon gate is an “outstandingly beautiful piece of functional artwork.”

Members of the Gardens said the community is invited to visit and view the new moon gate.
