Operation Safe Haul removes unsafe commercial drivers in Laramie County
Operation Safe Haul pulled dozens of unsafe and undocumented commercial drivers off Laramie County roads, resulting in 40 arrests and multiple trucks placed out of service. Here’s what deputies found during the three-day crackdown.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - A multi-agency traffic enforcement effort removed unqualified, unsafe and undocumented commercial drivers from Laramie County roads during a three-day operation that concluded Thursday, according to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.
Operation Safe Haul, conducted Nov. 18–20, involved the sheriff’s office, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Deputies focused enforcement along Interstate 25, Interstate 80, U.S. 85 and state highways near Cheyenne, Carpenter, Burns, Pine Bluffs and Albin.
Deputies made 195 traffic stops, issued 49 citations and arrested dozens of people on criminal charges. The Wyoming Highway Patrol completed 133 commercial vehicle inspections, placing 38 vehicles out of service. Violations included 45 inoperable brakes, 16 CDL or licensing issues, 10 English-proficiency violations and two drug violations.
The operation led to 40 criminal immigration arrests, all processed by ICE for removal. Notable arrests included a man with prior convictions for DUI and felony sexual assault involving the drugging of his victim, and another with prior DUI and larceny convictions who had been deported five times.
Sheriff Brian Kozak said the effort underscores the county’s commitment to roadway safety.
“I am sorry to see these irresponsible and undocumented drivers tarnish the reputation of professional commercial drivers who uphold safety regulations and keep America moving,” Kozak said. “We honor those drivers who do it the right way.”
The sheriff’s office said it will continue to work with state and federal partners to promote safe travel.
