SIDNEY -- Kim Phillips announced Sunday Dennis Cheatham is the new general manager of the Fox Theater.

He has been part of the "Fox Theater family" for several years.

"I've been here at the Fox Theater since 2018 with John and Kim, and just recently got promoted to manager here, along with Shea Wittrock and Johnny (Hajek)," Cheatham said.

Wittrock and Hajek will work as shift managers. Hajek will also take care of the maintenance.

"My position is officially the general manager. The biggest thing we do is juggle which movies are coming and the timing of which. Some movies contracts are for two weeks, some are for three weeks. We sometimes get movies on a one-week run. If you have a movie that's like three weeks like one we have coming up, then we miss out on some other movies. We have to kind of keep what we think is going to do good for us in mind and pass on some movies so we can get others," he said.

He will also be in charge of staff scheduling and employee management. He also has a platform for his creative side.

"We just installed a new media sign, and so I'm in charge of creating and implementing all the media that's going to be displayed on main street now," he said.

Phillips said the hope was for the sign to be completed in time for John Phillips to see it. Phillips passed away October 4, 2025.

The Fox Theater will be hosting Christmas Matinees this year, as well as other "new and different things," Cheatham said. The goal is to be even more community-focused. Tuesday, the Sidney Raider football championship game will be broadcast at no admission cost. They will offer Red Raider cinnamon popcorn during the game.

A gaming system is connected to one of the projectors, concession stand offerings are expanding and birthday parties are welcome.

"We're going to expand what we're doing move-wise, concession-wise, and really make this a place where the community enjoys to go and have a night out," he said.

Phillips said she will continue to be a hands-on operator, and keep the Fox Theater open as long as the community supports it.
