Aurora schools placed on lockdown after reported threat

AURORA, Neb. — Aurora High School and Aurora Middle school were placed on lockdown after threats on Monday.

The Aurora Police Department received a report of a possible threat at Aurora High School at around 10 a.m., school officials were notified and the high school went into lockdown. 

Out of precaution, Aurora Middle School was also placed on lockdown. 

Aurora police said they arrived on scene and secured both schools and conducted a search with the support of school personnel. 

The lockdowns were lifted shortly after, and the scene was cleared at around 1 p.m., according to school officials. 

Parents were notified via email, the school said they took the threat seriously and followed all necessary protocols. 

The Aurora Police Department was assisted by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department and the Nebraska State Patrol.
