Nebraska law enforcement agencies warn of fake DMV text scam

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Several Nebraska law enforcement agencies are warning about a scam involving a fake Department of Motor Vehicles text.

According to authorities, the scam involves a person getting a fake DMV text which warns that the victim has unresolved traffic violations under their account.

The scam threatens the victim with a variety of legal penalties and fines, typically noting a short time frame to respond.

Authorities remind people to not click on any links on messages like these. The sheriff’s office also said that people can check in with the Nebraska DMV if they think there is an issue with their license.
