Lodgepole, Potter to host annual festivals this weekend

POTTER & LODGEPOLE, NE — Two towns in the southern panhandle are celebrating their heritage this weekend. 

Lodgepole Old Settlers' Days and Potter Days both have events to pack Labor Day weekend. 

Lodgepole Old Settlers' Days kicks off Friday with the fourth annual Glow Fun Run at 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday are highlighted by the Platte Valley Tractor Pull, Car Motorcycle and Trucks Show, sand volleyball tournament and fire department street dance and beer garden. 

The 96th iteration of the festival in Lodgepole wraps up Labor Day with events such as a Parade with the theme "Go Big Blue," and a free will donation BBQ.

Thirty-seven miles west on Highway 30, the 90th Annual Potter Days will take over the village of Potter. 

Saturday, the festival includes events like a 5K color run, a parade themed "Red, White and True," duckpin bowling, a show n' shine, ranch bronc riding and fireworks. 

Sunday, off road racers from across the region will compete in the Potter PNCC 120 Off Road Races. Races are set to start at 7 a.m.

The event wraps up Sunday evening with the Party in the Pasture concert featuring Braydon Zink. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
