North Platte sweeps Gering
The North Platte Bulldogs host the Gering Bulldogs in their last home regular season game of the season.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Bulldogs host the Gering Bulldogs in their last home regular season game of the season. The Dawgs come into the game with a 10-9 record having dropped their last game at home to Scottsbluff. Gering made the trip to North Platte with an 11-9 record and were on a two game winning streak.
After the first period of play the things were all tied up at ten a piece. Leading the Dawgs in scoring in the first period was Junior Carly Purdy with four.
When the teams went into the locker room at the half North Platte had a 31-17 lead over Gering. Purdy had a huge period in the second posting nine points and lead the Dawgs in the first half with 13.
The Dawgs continue to pull away from Gering with a 21 point third period and a twelve point fourth period.
The Dawgs will take this one at home 64-33 over Gering. The leading scorer on the game was North Platte’s Kylie Harvey with 20 points and six three’s. North Platte improves to 12-9 on the season and will return to action Tuesday February 15th on the road at Grand Island. Gering falls to 11-10 on the season and return to action Saturday February 12th at home against Chase County.
North Platte dominates over Gering at home

After the first period of play the Dawgs had a 15-4 lead. North Platte’s leading scorer in the first period was Senior Kade Mohr and Junior River Johnston both with five points.
When the teams went into the locker room at the half North Platte had a 41-15 lead. North Platte’s leading scorer in the first half was Johnston with 16.
After the half the Dawgs continued to dominate and never gave up the lead.
The Dawgs will win the game 68-28 over Gering. The leading scorer for the game was North Platte’s River Johnston with 23 points. North Platte will improve to 12-8 for the season and will return to action Saturday February 19th on the road at Elkhorn.
North Platte falls to Scottsbluff at home
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Girls Basketball Team welcomes the Scottsbluff Bearcats down to North Platte for a Thursday Night basketball match up. The North Platte Bulldogs are 10-8 so far this season and are looking to make it a winning streak tonight having won their last game at home against Hastings. The Scottsbluff Bearcats make the trip down to North Platte with an impressive 17-3 record and are on a three game win streak.
After the first quarter of play the game was all tied up at ten points a piece. Leading the Bulldogs was Senior Kylie Harvey and Junior Carly Purdy both with four points. The leading scorer for the Bearcats in the first period was Junior Payton Burda with five points.
When the teams went into the locker room at the half things were still tied up at 22 a piece. The leading scorer for the Dawgs in the first half was Purdy with eight points followed by Sophomore Ellie Blakely and Harvey each with four. The leading scorer for Scottsbluff in the first half was Sophomore Paige Horne and Burda each with seven points.
After the half the Bearcats began to take the lead outscoring North Platte 13-10 in the third period. Leading the charge for the Bearcats in the third was Burda with five points. The Bearcats had another big period in the fourth as they posted 17 points to secure their win.
Scottsbluff will win this one on the road at North Platte 52-42. The leading scorer for the game was Carly Purdy with 15 points. The North Platte Bulldogs will fall to 10-9 on the season and return to action Friday February 11th at home against Gering. The Scottsbluff Bearcats will improve to 18-3 on the season and return to action Friday February 11th on the road at McCook.
North Platte wins in overtime against Scottsbluff
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Bulldogs welcome the Scottsbluff Bearcats down to North Platte for a Thursday Night basketball match up. The Bulldogs come into the game with a 10-8 record so far this season and are looking to stay hot after their win at home last week against Hastings. The Bearcats come into the game with a 15-4 record and are on a winning streak themselves having won their last three.
After the first period of play the Dawgs had the 23-17 lead over the Bearcats. The leading scorer for the Dawgs in the first period was Junior Carter Kelley with 13 followed by Junior River Johnston with six. The Bearcats leading scorer in the first period was Senior Austin Thyne with nine.
When the teams went into the locker room at halftime Scottsbluff had taken a 38-36 lead over North Platte. Junior Kellon Harris had a big second period as he put 15 points on the board for the Bearcats. For the Dawgs it was Kelley with six points in the second half making him North Platte’s leading scorer in the first half with 18 points.
The Dawgs came out of the locker room in the second half and reclaimed the lead, after the third period of play the score was 54-51. North Platte’s Johnston had a huge third period posting 12 points on the board for the Dawgs and then has another big period in the fourth where he scores nine.
At the end of the fourth period of play things were all tied up at 72 a piece. In overtime it was Johnston with four points, Senior Tyler Luna with three and Kelley with two who pulled the Dawgs through to victory.
The leading scorer of the game was River Johnston with 31 points. The Bulldogs improve to 11-8 on the season and return to action Friday February 11th at home against Gering. The Bearcats fall to 16-4 on the season and return to action Friday February 11th on the road at McCook.
