Weather service includes northeast Colorado in high wind warning
The warning is in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to midnight Friday night.
STERLING - The National Weather Service office in Boulder announced Thursday a high wind warning stretches from Denver to Julesburg. The warning also includes southwest Nebraska, including Keith, Perkins and Chase Counties.
The warning is in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to midnight Friday night.
The weather service expects strong winds to produce areas of blowing dust and poor visibility. They say winds will be sustained out of the southwest at 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result, according to the weather service. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
A red flag warning remains in effect Friday for northeast Colorado, the Nebraska panhandle and southeast Wyoming. The NWS advises to avoid outdoor burning or any activity that may cause sparks. The strong winds will likely fuel rapid fire growth.
