Nebraska High School Hall of Fame to induct former Gering athlete

The Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame will induct 12 athletes as well as five coaches, a contributor, and an official for this year’s ceremony.

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame will induct 12 athletes as well as five coaches, a contributor, and an official for this year’s ceremony.

One of the athletes set to be inducted former Gering High School stand-out Stephanie Streeks. Streeks was a studnet athlete at Gering high school from 1990 to 1993. She was a star in three sports earning all state honors in basketball and winning state gold in the high jump for track and field. She also was an also a force on the volleyball court. She currently still owns three Class A volleyball records for blocks. Solo Blocks for a season at 180, Solo Blocks in a match at 22, and Solo Blocks average for a season at 7.83.

She would take those volleyball skills to Long Beach State where she was a part of a national championship volleyball team. Streeks now has two children and lives in California. The Nebraska High School Hall of Fame will inducted the 2023 Class on October 8 at Lincoln East High School.
