Seat belt usage rates up in Scottsbluff

SCOTTSBLUFF-- The Scottsbluff Police Department participated in the Click it or Ticket enforcement wave with overtime funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.

The enforcement wave lasted from May 15 to June 4. The enforcement wave resulted in a slight increase in seat belt usage in Scottsbluff. The usage rate before the enforcement wave was 55.25 percent and after the enforcement wave was 56.25 percent.

The following is the enforcement activity of the Scottsbluff Police during Click it or Ticket: citations: 31 no valid registration, 16 no seat belts, 15 no insurance, 11 no operator’s license, nine driving under suspension, nine possession of drug paraphernalia, eight speeding, eight warrant arrests, five possession of controlled substance, four improper turn, four open container of alcohol, three possession of marijuana, three driving under the influence, two hit and run, two school permit violations, two child restraint violations, two failure to yield, two refusal of chemical test, two no headlights, one reckless driving, one stop light violation, one failure to yield to emergency vehicle, one stop sign violation, one texting while driving, one fictitious license plates, one no ignition interlock, one following too close, one not having two plates, one littering, and one stolen vehicle recovery.
