SIDNEY - The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of the Nebraska Panhandle and southeast Wyoming Monday evening.
The watch, which includes Cheyenne, Kimball, Banner, Scotts Bluff, Morrill and Sioux Counties in Nebraska; and Laramie and Goshen Counties in Wyoming, encapsulates two threats, according to the weather service.
The NWS says the first wave is mainly a single severe storm that was in northeast Laramie County at 6:30 p.m. It was expected to track east into the central/southern Nebraska Panhandle.
A second region of concern will develop later this evening with another round of storms moving across northern portions of the area through midnight or a little bit after, according to the NWS.
The watch is in effect until midnight. The weather service says the main threats are large hail and gusty winds, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
