Troopers Arrest 18 Drivers During St. Patrick’s Day Campaign

Nebraska State Troopers removed 18 impaired drivers from the road as part of a special enforcement effort around St. Patrick’s Day.

“For many, St. Patrick’s Day marks the beginning of the spring travel season,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “We want to remind all motorists to help keep Nebraska roads safe. Remember to always drive sober, follow posted speed limits, put your phone down, and wear your seatbelt.”

In total, troopers arrested 18 motorists for driving under the influence. Troopers also issued citations for speeding (323), open alcohol container (7), minor in possession of alcohol (6), driving under suspension (15), no seat belt (9), and improper child restraint (6). Troopers also performed 97 motorists assists during the grant period.

The campaign ran from Saturday, March 15, through Monday, March 17, as part of this operation. This effort is made possible thanks in part to a grant for $20,172 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
